Death Stories

death

I love you, Mom, don't shed a tear, Please know that I am always near.   I'm never farther than a thought away, I'm with you every night and day.   I am the kiss of the morning dew, I am God's creature that watches you.   I am the flicker of the lightning bug, And the evening breeze? That is my hug.   I am the twinkle of every star, To remind you that I'm never far.   So when you feel you can't make it through, Just look...

What People Don't Realise

A short story by Andrea Snyman. Some stories begin where you think they end.

What people don’t realise is that death isn’t what they think it is. ~ You find yourself in a waiting room…Sitting comfortably on the couch. It’s not too cold, it’s not too warm…It even comes complete with old school elevator type music. They probably figured a setting as familiar as a doctor’s office would be calming, but then they never met my orthodontist. He is still very much alive and torturing little children with...

Terrainer – Diaries

A woman looks for her place at the end of the world.

Dear Bryce, I've come to realize, three things that should never be withheld from being said are, "Please," "Thank you," and, "I'm sorry." Please, don't take this letter the wrong way.  This isn't an attempt to reestablish contact with you or rekindle our friendship.  Although, I would like to talk to you again, see how you've been, and possibly even become friends again, I don't think this is the place, way, or time.  ...

I hate this kinda crap. There’s nothing worse than when someone you care for dies and everyone stands around crying and the over-hyped lamentations begin. Somehow, whatever faults and shortcomings they had have now been replaced by qualities of sainthood. I always try to stand at the back at these sort of things. Rolling my eyes is a private thing and rightly so. I’m not a complete jerk. Still and all it does bother me th...

Story to tell

Which one do you think it was, God, or Fate?

Everyone has a story to tell, about who they are, where they came from, what their names mean. Not to boast (okay, I’m boasting a tad) I happen to believe there’s something extra magical about mine. While I don’t believe in organized religion, you might even say it was God’s doing; I happen to believe it’s fate. In order to know my story, you first have to look before me, even before my parents, but to theirs. Their Fathe...

The Bench

A young man learns that life isn't always what we have planned, but what we are given

Any time of year in the south is normally hot, but the summer I turned eighteen, was as if Hades himself had come up from his depths and brought with him the skin scorching, water vaporizing torment to lay to waste on our little South Carolina town. I remember that summer with vivid detail as it was the summer my life would be drastically changed forever, and find a different course then what I’d mapped out for it as a ki...

Ease Your Mind - Chapter One

All I need is your hand...

Rain hit the window, and my eyes traced the lines of water traveling down the glass. Long streaks trailed behind each one, telling the story of where it had been. Every splatter would leave its own reminder behind, letting the person seated know it had existed and where it had gone. I let my finger rest against the cool surface and traced one of those paths wistfully. In truth, I was the tiniest bit jealous. This rain cou...

Fatal Vision

When disbelief turns deadly...

I could not help remembering the old homeless man who explained that he possesses psychic abilities. I thought him nothing more than delusional when he told me he could see into the future, glimpsing visions of when and how others would die. I scoffed, for surely no one ever believed him. That exchange and his grim face were my last thoughts as I bled out on the street in front of the truck that hit me.

My story begins the day my father died. He was my friend,my mentor, but first and foremost my wonderful loving father. He tried to teach me all about the pains of the world. He would talk every day and he had the patience of Job. He could be funny and very strict. He had to be with 5 children, me being the oldest. We would watch baseball and the fights together.the other's were not as close to him as I was. At times even...

Little kitten, you never learned to meow properly in the short time we had you. You made weird, half-assed cat noises, now it is very, very quiet at meal times. I will miss coming home to find you sleeping on the end of my bed, or sometimes to find your poo on my bedroom floor. I will miss how easily wound up you were, and the scratches you gave me from constantly messing with you. I will miss your occasional angsty behav...
