How can I explain to my kids
Why their mommy is not here
To celebrate my birthday
Or Christmas, or New Year
How can I tell my children
Of the phase our lives are in
That what we shared was dying
That the bond was wearing thin
How do you say you love them
Just as mommy always will
But that one of us is leaving
How to serve that bitter pill
I don't know how to convey this
And still protect them as I should
Against anything that hurts them
Against anyone that would
Yet I'll have to find the answers
Keep them safe along their way
To where ever Life will take them
So that later they will say
Though our parents lost eachother
For us they were always there
They were always right behind us
And they never seized to care
We are proud to be
Their children
We have never lost
Their love
Why their mommy is not here
To celebrate my birthday
Or Christmas, or New Year
How can I tell my children
Of the phase our lives are in
That what we shared was dying
That the bond was wearing thin
How do you say you love them
