Sitting in his seat, tea in hand, Rufus was almost tempted to stand and grab something stronger. He looked at the girl, his eyes wild and unbelieving, head spinning. “Seriously, where did you come from, how’d you get here and what is your name?”“Heehee, I came from the water, I just kinda arrived here and you know my name,” the girl giggled.“Same smart mouth. You really are...” he trailed off.He took a sip of his tea and...

Hide and Seek

Based off the first picture.

I run into the bright forest with the leaves fluttering down. I look over my shoulder, laughing, to see if my friend follows me. When I turn my head to look forward, I run into a wall. Wait, not a wall, but a very tall thin man, wearing a suit and tie, with a blank face. He reaches down and gives me a hand and helps me up. He bends down to me, after I am on my feet and hands me a single flower. I grab it and put it in my...

Picture Prompt 1 (With the hand tossing the leaves).

I opened my front door, stepping out of the dusky apartment block hallway into my lounge room, and saw the answering machine flashing wildly. Ten messages. I felt a moment of dread as I wondered how many of the messages were from her. I pressed play... "Jane, where are you? I know you may have a migraine and all, but I need to speak to you." "Jane, this isn't funny." "Jane, I think you're just being selfish." The other se...

Probably Not

I had to write about it or it'd drive me crazy... we've been talking about it in Civics...

Dear my love, I know you'll be the one to find me. I'm not sorry for doing this, though perhaps for not telling you. But I knew you would not approve. My love, I'm tired... I'm dying anyway... or I was... I had six months to live, sweetie, I was bedridden. I didn't want to be a burden. I didn't want to lose all my dignity. I didn't want you to see me suffering. I was tired, my special one. I hope, even if you do not appro...

Rufus sat and thought. He still had no idea if it really was Amy in the dream, or if he was just wishing it. “I really miss you, Amy,” he sobbed to the room.It was as if he was expecting to get some sort of reply, but nothing came. Sitting with his tea, he wept, thinking of Amy. “Remember the first time we met?” He smiled, “I just about shat myself. Mind you, you were pretty spooked too. I think that’s what brought us tog...

Words and Writing

Picture Prompt 1 - Fluttering words in the bramble mind.

As I sit here writing, words flutter from the breezes in my fertile mind. So often, I try to put them on paper or utter them aloud. They come out in a jumble, as if I pulled them from the brambles in my mind. I use words to communicate and inform, to confuse and entertain. Words like the fruit of the bramble can be sweet or sour. Even when sweet, they can turn sour in the mind of the reader or listener. Lately, however my...

Lady in Red

Picture Prompt 1

He saw her in the park on a sunny day, while he was just walking though to the other side where he lived in a block of flats. He came out from behind a few trees just after 6pm that late sunny afternoon, where he stopped in his footsteps to see a beauty that was led to him from heaven. OR so he believed. He wished he could picture this moment and let time stand still. There she was, lying on a bench. Wearing a red dress,...

Philena: Thoughts and Words and Sharp Objects

May trigger... and the book: Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn is a real book, focused more on mystery..

I read once about a girl who cut stinging words into her flesh, some flowery, a few dirty, many harsh and emotional. The book was really very good. It was titled Sharp Objects and written by a now favorite author by the name of Gillian Flynn, called so because the woman within would use any object to slice herself to safety so long as it was sharp enough. Reading the book of murders and teeth pulled out, a small town of 2...

The Fallout

The Wolf Dream Trio Part Two

Only a few days passed, I spent the first day screaming and pounding at Jake. He lied to Kayla and me about being a werewolf. I also used that fit of rage to blame him for Kayla’s death. He waited for me to calm down. After that, we stuck together, constantly moving forward, getting as much distance between that monster and us as possible. We finally, expelled our constrained breaths, thinking that we were safe from it fo...

Eternal Dreams

The Wolf Dream Trio Part Three

I awoke to the sound of leaves falling and birds chirping. I opened my eyes to see the sun shining brightly through the leaves of autumn trees. Achingly, I rose and brushed myself off. I felt different, not like when I turned into a werewolf that had an instant burning sensation of the transformation, but a subtle awareness of another presence within me. I looked down to assess myself, what happened to me last night? Leav...

The Awakening

The Wolf Dream Trio Part One

Over us loomed the high school, newly built, and the perfect place for a cult to hide and perform their dark rituals without one suspicious eye. Little did we know this particular cult was the one formed by almost every dark world creature: Vampires, Witches, even the living dead. Just not werewolves, they were the only ones with morals apparently. I looked to my left and right, Kayla stood beside me, Jake on the other si...

Festival of Colors Hodi

Based off the first prompt picture

Such an array of colors fills the air, making everything beautiful. Vibrant colors fill the air like small puffs of clouds. Everything is in disarray and chaos, and yet somehow harmonic and orderly. I merely stand in awe at the spectacle, the festival of colors has begun. A vivid purple, a rich claret, a dusky green, all in the air collide with other colors. Each color thrown into the air or at others, soon blurring into...

I am the dark and spooky woods. Oh, please, don’t be afraid. Just because you see overhanging branches and tangled brambles, darkness and no way out, it doesn’t mean I’m going to hurt you. I really do quite like visitors, actually. Come, enjoy my clearly set out paths. You may want to take a flashlight, though. There was this one person who forgot their flashlight. In fact, he hadn’t any idea how he’d got here. I knew exa...

Happiness in the Village The geese woke the villagers on this crisp fall morning. Honking all in a perfect V flying south the new sun on their wings.
