Raised in Wyoming in a log cabin until I was 14. I was essentially home schooled through 8th grade as we lived literally at the end of the road and were often snowed or mudded in. I knew how to use a CB radio before I could a telephone. Learned to ride a pony bare back like an indian before I could ride a bicycle.
9th grade was spent at the University Of Wyoming Prep School, after which I completed my High School education at Kelly Walsh High School.
Entered the US Navy at 18, 1 semester after high school graduation from Kelly Walsh High School in Casper Wyo. Highlights of my 20 year Navy career Met and married my wife, Debbie ne. Lytle Plank Owner (on first crew) for a cruiser, USS Thomas S. Gates CG51 Visited a number of Caribbean ports Made the first port visit by a US warship since 1948 to Sevastopol USSR Plank Owner (on first crew) for a destroyer USS Mitscher DDG-57 I finished my career with the rank of Electronics Technician Chief Petty Officer (ETC(SW)) or E-7.
I then joined Family Dollar Stores as an IT Engineer for 15 years. I am currently between jobs.
My writings are varied, mostly reminiscences, funny or unusual stories, or pieces written to work out issues. I write prose, poetry, and songs in that order. I have done some tech writing as well. You will find that I am pretty wordy unless I really work to boil it down.
If I read your work I will comment, and if I receive a comment that I get notified on, I will always reply. At least until I get enough published that I can't keep up. I'm not a friend collector so if you make the list you are a bit special to me. Thanks for plowing through all this. Please enjoy the SS site.

Still cautious, he stepped forward with authority, like when Dad came in for supper.Holding his breath, afraid anything might spook them john watched in wonder...
Growing Up Ranch Chapter 12 My SchoolJust as I had a ranch version of other things, I also had "ranch" school. (No escaping it, IT'S THE LAW!!) I had the good fortune to attend Fawcett School, one of the Rural District Nineteen public schools. From the name alone you may perhaps suspect that this was not your ordinary public school and you are right. At six years old all children begin school. For ranch kids like us, this...
Growing Up Ranch Chapter 11 Horsey Tales. My growing up ranch was quite unusual even in its day. The reason was we were one of the few ranches that worked our cattle exclusively with horses. These “beasts of burden” became friends and companions, each with their own personality. Here are some short sketches of the regularly used mounts which amounted to about a third of our horse herd. ChalkyWe had a number of saddle hors...
