We thought we would do something a little different this time. You could say, putting the pressure on you, while having a little fun. Here's the premise:

You're a writer and the demands of others are weighing on you. You've got a deadline looming over your head but you've been struck with a terrible case of writer's block. We're all writers, we've all been there. We want you to get creative and find a way to break free from that writer's block. Perhaps it's something small, like taking a jog to see the beauty of nature. Or maybe it's a bit more extreme, such as giving a sacrifice to the Gods of old... Do whatever you have to do to meet that deadline. As added pressure, this contest will only run for two weeks and you only have one thousand words. Good luck!

Quick little add-on here, when we say "do whatever", that whatever still has to fall within StoriesSpace guidelines.

Per usual, all categories are open except poetry, songs, musings, and plays.

Quick Rules:

You have two weeks (14 days).

The maximum word count is 1000.

You cannot submit already published work.

All Stories Space rules and guidelines apply. https://www.storiesspace.com/legal/acceptable-use-policy

The ending date is February 26, 2025

The winners will be announced on March 5, 2025

Prizes:

1st Place $50 (USD)

2nd Place $25 (USD)

3rd Place $15 (USD)

Have fun and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!

Oo, good timing to launch this right before a long weekend. I am sure I can come up with something by Feb. 26 given the short length.

I cant think of a thing to write in this competition. Oh wait now I have an idea😁

Excellent theme, Molly. And it's flash! This should be fun.

Fire and Ice - A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words competition, first place

Monster - Survivor competition, first place

Omg, I’m a little afraid to put to paper what’s rambling around in my mind lately. 😳 I did write a St Valentine short I might submit tmrw. Doesn’t fit this theme, though.

Good luck, everyone! ❤️

I submitted mine. My cat made me write it. It may resemble a coughed-up hairball. 🙄

That could be highly symbolic of you getting rid of what is blocking you. 😊 Nice to see things getting rolling early. I'll see how my weekend shakes out but I imagine mine will be closer to the end. 1000 words isn't much but my perfectionist internal editor will still want to make a few passes.

Ha! My acupuncturist said he was ridding me of energy blocks and then my story poured out. But it’s… well… see for yourself. 🙄

Probably should get an acupuncturist myself. My upper back and neck are killing me after the shoveling yesterday.

I am contemplating a story about a city block where all the residents are writers of some form. Does that count? 😉

(Get it? Writers' block? 🤣)

(Yes, I'm cracking jokes to hide my frustration at not having an idea yet)

That is so punny, Mr Ape! 😜

This comp theme keeps me giggling. Perfect for writers and it’s actually curing some of us who’ve been suffering that ailment. 😊

Molly, your very short deadline kinda cracked a whip on us. 😊

Sigh. Between housework, shovelling snow, and being exhausted from shovelling snow, I haven't even looked at my draft today. Looks like I'm going to be a last minute entry at this rate.

We’ve all been there- staring at the blinking cursor as it mocks us, whispering sweet nothings of nothing but deadlines and despair. And from the entries I've just read, I can see that this comp is a victory over the block.

Good luck, and may the words (eventually) flow!

Oh man, stop describing me so accurately. 🙄🙁😊

I am close. Got a cover image. Got it setup in drafts. Just letting it "simmer" before a final read and maybe edit.

But seven already and all good writers. Cool. Keep'em coming, folks.

Yay! Good job sticking with it, Mr Ape! worship I’m look for you to publish! I think Kat’s coming, too. Hopefully some others! 😊

I pimped it on my wall on another site giving the link. So hopefully someone will belly on up to the bar. Kind of disappointing that more haven't written.

I usually post about my writing and especially comps on other sites I am on. Probably gets a few readers over but I don't think it has ever resulted in anyone joining. Still, never hurts.😊
