River Stories

river

Let us lay by the river side. Let us fall in the land of Jordan. Let us call it suicide. Let us gather the sparrow's feathers. Let us gather them all. Let us deny that we pray. Let us call the Almighty. Let us weep in the raging river. Let us be swept down to the ocean. Let the sound of hell-fire run at high tide. Let us pray that we are free. Let us bow our knee. For my love this land is stained with our blood. And still...

Party at River Island

Some parties are better than others.

We followed railroad tracks by the forest, and the tracks followed the river. A white moon hung full and bright to our right, fluorescent on the water. To our left, dense black trees grew close to the tracks. Chalk-white stones glowed with the moon, piled loosely around heavy wooden ties. I grabbed one of the stones and gauged its weight, its feel. It moves North and South Smooth at times Rough at others Beautiful landscapes On each side Trees from time to time The river and roads Are similar you see Both take me places I want to be

He couldn't hold his breath much longer, he struggled, he could see the sunlight, but he couldn't reach it and his mouth opened and he felt the water clog his lungs and run down his throat. He was choking and he could stop it. Jeremy thought...
