poem

Reaching you will unmake us,  it is the end and start of our impossible divide,  placing our every mistake in a clouded hourglass  and hiding flaws in time's delicate folds. All of these moments have their own weight  like stones of different shapes and sizes,  decorated in glyphs and runes of the languages we lost,  each can build a road and towering castles for us one day. I've broken time for this,  shards of space to...

There used to be laughter in the room, Says the wall Along with tears, Says the pillow at night She talked none stop, even in her sleep, Says the stuffed gator She always knew what time it was, Says the watch that never left her wrist But now it's empty She had been gone for years, Says the calendar that is five years old There used to be laughter in the room

I'm the kid that always gets picked last for teams I'm the kid that ends up doing the whole project because the other kid won't do crap I'm the kid that people don't give a second thought to I'm the kid that thinks about those who don't think about me I'm the kid that turns to Facebook or Wattpad for friends I'm the kid that has the friends no one else wants I'm the kid that parents could be proud of I'm the kid that has...

There was laughing then a smile  You weren’t yourself You never smile or laugh Of course you stopped when school started But I loved it while it lasted You were nicer Everyone liked you for once Then school started You went back to your normal way Wouldn’t acknowledge that I was there Being the butthead that you can be But I still loved it You were different for once Not caring what the other teachers or I think I should...

You carry a certain light inside of you that I barely understandthe glow of when it pours from you to cover me,and it can be the last illumination I give myself over to.The loving radiance crossing every bridge I laboredfor years to construct inside that have collapsed one by oneAnd you can shine where no one else has had a chance to see,the deep chasms others carved in me when leaving can be filledand reshaped by your ge...

I'll lend an ear

I'll lend an ear

Bad day Nothing went right Problem after problem with no solution You have come to a conclusion You know tomorrow’s another day Until then I’ll lend an ear, I’ll lend an ear Bad week Everything went wrong So much stress You just want to rest You know next week will change Until then I’ll lend an ear, I’ll lend an ear Bad weeks Misfortune after misfortune You’re just so tired Your brain so wired You hope things will get be...

Trailing

About last summer.

Sometimes you're only fading mist against windowpanes, trailing my every second as you have before. As if we're still encircling  the same unforgiving, violent mirrors of one another. I just wanted to stay wrapped up together, the knowing rhythm of our bodies perfuming the dark, the warmest place I'll remember, tracing bridges I've been meaning to mend. But it's not time to go yet, to say goodbye to the cracked vessels cr...

Familiars

About someone I deeply cared for.

Your touch will turn me to stone, even when it's just a whisper through the floors and walls, slipping through the locks and windows to graze with longing fingertips to remind me I've memorized every night this happens  and maybe you're too familiar to keep me here anymore,  maybe you've studied me with the same way I've mapped each intricacy that drew us too close. Like gravity's resolute pull, like the onset of a collap...

Missing you

Written a while ago

Looking at the sky, as dark clouds roll in, tears run down my cheek.  As I feel my heart breaking.  I look for answers to where you are?  I call and call,  hoping praying you will come,  but still nothing.  You are nowhere to be found...  I have lost my loyal companion,  my best friend.  When I lost my baby,  my four legged child,  my pet dog!!!

I got you through the winter, willing to be the steps behind you, the traces and threads of what broke you untie the closer we get  to where you came from. And anything that was ever special, anything about me that ever illuminated your eyes may already be leaving cell by patient cell, frame by frame. So I drove the coast alone, by trees swaying in wind, trying to tear free from roots, by sands that are a smooth, unchange...

This Is the Night

An old poem I thought I should publish after being reminded of it by summer's beautiful nights.

The dark envelops the world, wielding a sharp blade against the light. Shadows sink on over brooding souls.  Oh yes, this is the forthcoming night. The sun bleeds upon misty skies like red and orange coloring a blank sheet; as diamond rain onto bracken earth spills, brightness and black finally in a waltz meet and like a blown candle flame, the light disappears. Twinkling eyes form over the black firmament of sky, watchin...

Lack of Motivation is a Peaceful Bathtub

For my writing class, I had to create a poem related to a random metaphor my teacher came up with.

you close your eyes, and you let yourself sink lower,  let the warm water lap at your skin  and melt against your goose bumps,  the stark contrast of the bitter cold above you  and the warmth beneath you  taking you by surprise. the image suddenly shatters as you suddenly open your eyes,  and you feel like you're dry again,  bone and dust and wind,  but you exhale  and you let your fingers fall slowly from the lip of the...
