Eyes open to the sky,
Rain pours down like tears
from clouds dark as night
like my eyes.
Hair is drenched,
Clothes are torn,
but I am so alive
even as I die.
Tossed out on the curb,
The cold is my only friend,
freezing my heart
slowing my mind.
Voices stop shouting,
Punches stop coming,
memories disappear
the bruises will too.
This pain will not be here for long,
This ache will evanesce,
as I am welcomed into Heaven
by a Deity you said would send me to Hell.
Love and Acceptance should rule the world,
Instead the leaders are Hatred and War,
they’ve always shunned and spited me
this time, they took it too far.
Blood mixes with rain, staining it red,
Tears stop coming as lungs let go of the last breath,
a life is cut too short
he loved who he loved and for it he met death.
