I met him on some strange site,
Where strangers talked day and night.
He was there for the first time,
I was there just to kill time.
It was like we’ve known each other,
As if we met only to remember.
We laughed and talked with no shame,
Before we knew each other’s name.
Days and months soon passed us by,
Feelings grew I couldn’t deny,
We decided it’s time to meet,
I heard my heart’s wild beat.
I waited there fidgeting,
In a café, one evening.
Purple dress and make-up on,
Wishing I was a turn-on.
I sent him a picture, you see,
Of a twenty year old me.
Well, I still feel young inside,
Just with wrinkles outside.
Fine, I also got pressured,
That he looked so young and good.
In a navy uniform,
He looked prime in all his form.
Yet my conscience was nagging,
I was not so used to lying.
I could not bear it anymore,
I thought to head out the door.
Just as I was standing up,
I saw a familiar get-up.
He sat in a corner worried,
Looking a bit constipated.
I caught his eyes, there I knew,
He wore the same as the photo.
What a shock it was to see,
He was gray and old as me.
I told him the night before,
I’d wear his most loved color.
He looked all too dumbfounded,
As towards me he treaded.
He then smiled with so much glee,
He was as relieved as me.
A laugh I could not stifle,
Felt like I won a raffle.
We walked out with hands linked,
Felt like Cupid passed and winked.
For we may look frail and old,
Our hearts are young, our love so bold.
