WINTER
The frost covered grass,
The icicles dangling from rickety windowpanes,
The thick blanket of cotton wool over the gardens
And our hearts.
Children’s laughter,
Festive decoration,
Woolly hats and mitten gloves,
Smiles all round.
On the hearth of the fireplace,
Hot cocoa in hand,
Snuggles and cuddles,
With the ones you love.
Around the Christmas tree,
Presents demanding to be opened,
Wrappings flying everywhere,
Grins from ear to ear.
Robin Red-breast leaving footprints in his wake,
Scarlet berries embedded in the startling green holly,
Mistletoe hanging in clumps,
The trees bare to the bone.
Winter’s now coming to an end,
Preparing for spring,
Let’s wish for this to come again soon,
The most beautiful season of the year.
