"We Stand in Awe"

The universe is not the miracle,
The flaming suns are but cold-blooded things
Nor is this Earth, an uncertain platform
Of shifting surfaces underneath our feet
And seas flooding our man-made works
Or disappearing in distant mirages,
Nor the mountains growing to breathless heights.
These are not miracles.
It is we who are the miracles,
Who witness beauty in all these things
And though we understand not
How these are or why,
We stand in awe of all these things
And nothing else we know of
Stands beside us in such awe.
