In my heart and mind a vagabond is who I be.
Wandering place to place, no harmony you see.

Never settling down, capricious by nature.
Stable place, none, searching for adventure.

Wanderer begging not for money, but forgiveness.
Carrying not a sack, but much unfinished business.

Trunk full of baggage, now unable to close the lid.
Each destination adding more since I was a kid.

Never able to throw away things from the past.
Weighted down, back bent nearly broken at last.

Packing these personal belongings around.
Pushing this vagabond to his burial mound.

Feet, legs, back and mind so tired I can barely move.
Why am I on this journey, what do I have to prove?

Lightening my load seems to be the thing to do.
Easier said than done I know, my mind is askew.

Breaking the cycle I have done long ago.
Never passing on the pain to another, no.

Holding inside my hurt, keeping it from all.
Laughing outwardly, internally a cruel brawl.

There are no failures, just ways things don't work.
One can learn from mistakes, try again, don't shirk.

Being one who is reluctant to change is not right.
Comfortable can bring nightmares back each night.

Adding to the already heavy load being carried.
Demons in ones trunk are better cast and buried.

If you can learn anything from this silly old fool's mistakes.
Hoard not, throw your baggage away before your back it breaks.

Give forgiveness to yourself for things that can not be changed.
Today is all that really matters, past wrongs can be exchanged.

Live life to the fullest, face your fears head on, learn from me.
I am sure there is a better way, don't be a vagabond like I be.
