Her glow was exciting, it filled my heart,
Lit up with smiling, entrancing, in joy.
Ours was the essence, quintessence, apart,
Showing the world what it could not destroy.
Lighting the earth, like a sun, like a star,
Sending out rays into all of the earth.
Breathing, alive, radiating afar,
The buoyant excitement, true love's birth.
Summer was here, we were newborns again,
Seeking the light in our life filled inception.
Blessed with emotion, we never felt strain,
Proud of our luck, no thoughts of deception.
Enter the one who would tear it away.
Enter the one who would lead her astray.
Dark moods descend and cast her in doubt,
Make her seek freshness in a new lover.
The sun becomes dimmer, the light goes out,
Black moon arisen, now it broods over.
Lost was the yearning, the burning delight
Gone was the giving, he thrust us apart.
What did he offer that filled up her night,
What did he proffer that filled up her heart?
Given no choice, bereft and repining,
Wistful, wishing to fight for her love-light.
Mine was the right, now dim and not shining,
Mine was the loss, beginning the dark night.
Ugly and sinful was this man of lies.
Spiteful and hurtful he brought forth her cries.
Empty his offerings, hateful and bleak
He never brought forth the poetic part.
Wicked and evil he still was too weak
To drain her heroine's strength in her heart.
Blackness he gave her and called it the light.
Mendacity ruled him, bent him to hate.
Domination was all, ruling with might
Kept him so woeful with vengeance innate.
With my insistence she looked at him clear,
She suddenly found what I knew for sure
That he used her, abused my one true dear
And never had given a damn for her.
The light reappeared in her loving eyes.
The darkness suppressed, evil shrinks and dies.
A simple moral is seen, is now known,
When light meets the darkness the truth is shown.
Lit up with smiling, entrancing, in joy.
