The day was dreary, wet and cool.
Thoughts passed to the future,
What would ensue.
My friend wondered what we would be
If Samsara was true
And we returned.
I will have achieved Nirvana,
Replied I with some glee
And some humor.
But later my mind flew away
Into the Universe,
Dreamt of Moksha.
Have I accomplished Devotion?
My life could be complete.
How may I see?
My Actions may well define me.
Giving a pathway home.
How have I done?
Approaching the greatest Knowledge
Would be another route.
What do I know?
Rāja Yoga Sūtras are hard
To fully accomplish.
Have I done well?
Bhakti, Karma, Jñāna, Yoga
Are paths to Nirvana,
To true Moksha.
To even think one has done this
Indicates that you failed
And will come back.
So I gaze out of my window
At goldfinches eating
All my bird seed.
And feel in my mind the true wish
To remain in this world
For ages and ages.
True friends, dear lovers could be lost.
Oh would that I should stay
Just another day.
And the Universe will not stop,
And Love will bless us all
As we go on.
