Did the moment pass you by.

and giving you banter.

Displaying clearly she was bright
and quick.

Appearing lovely to your eyes,
because of her wit.

But you paid the bill,
and drifted back to your motel.

The moment slipped away.

Was it in the library,
where she dropped a book, 
loudly,
and all looked,
but your eyes locked, her tresses about her face,
and both smiled.

You saw she was reading
Ferlinghetti,
while you had Langston Hughes,
as she sat down across from you
at the huge oak table.

But class time came,
you left quickly, 
as she turned and you both smiled.

The moment slipped away.

Was it at the gas station,
filling your gas,
as she stepped out of her little roadster,
displaying tiny feet in sandals,
carried by pale freckled legs.

Wearing a flippy skirt of cotton,
a peasant blouse of flowers,
and hair of copper hue.
Skipping into the store.

Stopping the flow of gasoline.
Paying at the pump.
Wandering into the convenience store for a vision,
a reconnoiter of the situation.

Watching her gather up her chocolate bars,
giggling,
then meeting your eye.
And you both smile.

Then she twirls away,
as you pay for your soda.
Watching her car spin out.

The moment slipped away.

Now something is happening again.
Once again,
a moment has occurred.

You have both smiled,
and both have looked into the depths
of your being,
through glittering eyes
of pure,
true,
happiness.

Don't let the moment slip away.
