Brain vs Heart : The Beginning

The brain and the heart were both present that day,

When the cause of their dispute came my way.

They were both there when cupid came,

And watched on as I surrendered to his game.

They supported me for quite a while,

Until the brain decided it was time to forget the smile.

The brain told me it’s time to let go,

But the heart said “she’ll be yours if it’s me to her you show.”

The brain called him a fool who would get hurt,

And the heart said yes but you know what she’s worth.

The brain said “come on man let her go you’ll find another”

The heart replied “I won’t forgive myself if I don’t try so don’t even bother.”

Eventually the heart just took control of my mind,

And the brain looked on, laughing as the heart went blind.

The brain knew it was only a matter of time,

Until the heart realized she would never be mine.

The day soon came and the heart was ready to let go,

The brain applauded him for the courage he had to show.

But as soon as the brain was about to break free,

She did something that made the heart decree.

That she was not a lost cause yet,

And the brain should surrender,

Since she he could still get.

This battle rages on while my body is helpless.

The logical brain versus the heart that is reckless.

The battle will soon be over I hope,

For my body cannot for much longer cope.

When it is all said and done,

I’ll be happy with either one,

Though secretly I yearn to say the heart is the one who won.
