She built the walls high
Encased herself within
No one was getting though
No way, No how
She doesn’t know how
Or even why
But he found the smallest crack
To let the light inside
A beacon of light
Which softly shone
A light so bright
In her darkness alone
The light made her wonder
Yet still cower in fear
The soft ample glow
Made a tear appear
“What do you want?”
“Why are you here?”
He reached out his hand
“I just want to be near.”
She’s bruised and broken
Not enough pieces remained
How could she show him
There was nothing to gain
Her wounded soul rattled
From its dark hiding place
Lifting her eyes to the battle
That gently stared at her face
“I’ll go if you want.”
He said soft and sweet
“I’ll stay if you need.”
As he rose to his feet
Her heart began to glow
In the soft beam of light
It pierced through to her soul
She didn’t want to fight
She reached for his hand
With the strength that she had
Could her darkened little land
Become whole again
With a soft little whisper
From deep in her soul
She simply whimpered to him
“Please don’t go.”
