I poured my heart out to you today,
spouted reams of passionate nonsense
infused with hate, the bitterest ire
and blended with fruitless frustration.
I ranted and raved at you today,
offloaded old pent-up, smothered fears,
released thoughts brewed in darkest corners,
unburdened my stirred-up, troubled mind.
I stole your hands and held them today,
I squeezed them tight while I said my piece.
Pouring forth, I looked into your eyes
and moved by the kindness that shone from
your soul, I finally drew a breath.
Pausing awhile, awaiting your answer,
I gazed at your lips and when you spoke,
drank in your carefully measured words -
words that quelled the maelstrom inside and
soothed my soul like sweet camomile tea.
I poured out my heart to you today
because you cared, you listened, you heard.
