You say you love me
You said you would be there
For the first year you were
The day you came home drunk
I asked if you were okay
You gave me your answer
With a fist to my face
I waited till you passed out
For I dare not move
I looked in the mirror
As the tears rolled down my face
I focused hard through tear filled eyes
And saw one hell of a black and blue eye
Waking in morning light
You looked at me
And said you were sorry
Promised me that it would never happen again
As days turned into months
Our love seemed to be true
Happy as we once used to be
Six months passed
I said hello, as you walked through the door
Once again I was met with that fist of yours
I felt it hit and bust my nose
I was shocked
For you promised you would no more
You almost killed me that cold winter's night
But I prove to be stronger then you
I packed my stuff and hit the door
For I was a victim of your strange kind of love
I now am a survivor of the abuse you put me through
Along with breast cancer, October is also domestic violence awareness month too
AND I AM A SURVIVOR
