Rambling rovers we may well be
The world is ours to roam, you see
To spend our lives in ecstasy
Enjoying life so gay and free.
That was the map we made before
To travel wide from shore to shore
And open every secret door
Each hidden path we would explore.
The future may be blocked by fate
And something might just close the gate
Your given span may be too strait
Tomorrow's plan may come too late.
Live now and know that you have won
Because you frolicked in the sun
Before the darkness had begun
Each of us is a chosen one.
Knowing now what may transpire
Would feel like walking on a wire
Making lives seem much too dire
So sing your life as in a choir.
We did all that when we were young
Our songs of joy have all been sung
The bell of passion's joy has rung
The blossoms from their beds have sprung.
One must not think there is regret
Our living is not over yet
We know that we have won the bet
We had the best that we could get.
We had a great and loving start
And so I sorrow in my heart
She did not want to play this part
But living well is still an art.
Her sleepless nights cut like a knife
It is a chronic pain filled life
The drugs may mollify the strife
She is my soul, my one true wife.
