A man sat and contemplated his life
It was one not worth enduring, he thought
And the months stacked upon each other
His feeble existence weighed heavy on his mind
And one day, he stood and set out
On his first day, he composed a symphony
So glorious was his creation
That it brought a tear to all who heard it
On his second day, he set aside his fear of rejection
And he bedded a woman, fair and beautiful
So rich was his experience
That it was enough to satisfy him for life
On his third day, he tracked down his favorite minstrels
And he listened to them play their songs
So moving was the music
That it lifted his spirit forever
On his fourth day, he lost himself in a vast forest
And he mediated in the sounds of the wilderness
So peaceful were the vibrations
That his mind suddenly calmed
On his fifth day, he met with a scholar
And he learned the secrets of the world
So great was the knowledge he found
That he saw the universe in renewed wonder
On his sixth day, he met an immaculate woman
And he stole her heart from her that day
So blissful was the feeling in his chest
That he felt euphoria like never before
On his seventh day, he hosted a party
And he invited every close friend he ever knew
So joyful was the mood
That he was as content as could be
And he declared to himself and all around
“This was a life worth living”
And he slashed his throat on the spot
For he thought only of himself
And the life he was leading
Excluded those he once loved
Because life had beat him down
Until he decided that he wanted
More than anything...
To beat life back
