When life comes and bites us in the ass.
Shattering our psyche like window glass.
Feeling alone, we continue trudging along.
Emotions broken down, no longer strong.
Weight of the world carried on our back.
Frown on our face, hard to stay on track.
Brightness gone, color faded, life so dark.
Contemplated thoughts become very stark.
The world around us carrying on, despite us.
We're set to throw in the towel without a fuss.
Someone comes along flashing a beautiful smile.
Up turned mouth, sparkling teeth, us they beguile.
Causing a reaction that can't be controlled.
Warming our heart, feelings now consoled.
Smiling back is instant, bringing a happy thought.
Costing nothing when given, and never is for not.
Next time you see someone carrying a scowl upon their face.
Flashing them your pearly whites, may be their saving grace.
A smile costs nothing, for the giver to display.
Having the power to change someone else's day.
