I am bathed in my own morals
On the curve of the beach
In the damp sand
Where the water rises to greet
And then slips silently away
Ebbs and flows
Under the oblivious light of the moon
The wind fingers my hair
But offers no arms
I am alone with my losses
And my pains

So subjective
Is regret
An ache that progresses
Once it states its claim
It clamps down on the heart
Prohibits the normalcy of just ...
breathing

I am my own cautionary tale
My head hard
My bottom soft
From repeated tumbles
Every fighter knows
One must eventually fade
The question remains
Shall it be
In or outside of the forum

I have collected hours
All of which were badly spent
Misused
With bad choices
And innocent intents
Pubescent fantasies
Misled realities
Wishes
these things coexist

Fate laughs with Karma
But no one louder than myself
Even god pities fools
Puppies
Lost little girls
Maybe grown women

In another life
I would have stood
At a better corner
Considered
Turning right or left
Been beautiful to watch
In my indecision
Had someone somewhere
Rooting for me
But this life was all I was given
And I must say
No thank you

Necessity inspires
Though a crude guide
It straightens the head
Directs the eyes
There are things that consume
Time and energy
Like eating and sleeping
Surviving
Even that becomes not enough

Smiles are for the benefit of others
At this point
I do not recognize
The sound of my own laughter
To fall to sleep
Is no longer a rest
Only a reminder
That there is yet
Another tomorrow
I grow tired of tomorrows

I look at the moon as it rises
Remembering
The first time I looked into the sun
They warned that it would ruin the eyes
I forgot the beauty of it all
The colors
I stared too long
I wanted too much

No one is watching now
This smile is for myself
As the water welcomes my full immersion
For this
There will be no regret
Endings should be fluid
