As I stand here
Without even moving an inch
As soon as you see me, I’m traveling
Away from the world I live in

The brief time that we spend together
An evening
A coffee
A night
Whisks me away
A mere look at your face
And I’ve touched down in some parallel time

You light up for me when you see me
It makes all the risk so worthwhile
Perhaps such encounters won’t heal me
But they let me break free for a while.
