In the beginning was a box

(bought wholesale at the flea circus gift shop)

inside that box was a world.  

Outside that box were instructions:

(be quiet, pay attention)

Unwrap box along the perforated edge in the plastic provided for your convenience.

Discard wrapping in recycling bin.

Grab sharp utensil. stab holes inside the veil of the world.

(This is so it can breathe. creation makes many beings, and worlds quite gassy)

Place the world inside the microwave. 

Set timer for however many Epochs you’d like your world to have.

Press start.

Then walk away. 

Or don’t. 

By all means, stand there

Schrodinger-staring,

listening.

to every second of 

bubbling and boiling

(the screaming)

of billions of swirling, sentient souls;

offering their songs of agonistic praise 

for the privilege of being.

Ignorant of the box.

Ignorant of the instructions.

Only an inkling,

an intrinsic knowledge of something,

that something exists,

beyond the veil of what is known as existence.

(everything they know is a lie if only they could prove it)
