Breakfast is a cookin’ and the bacon sure smells good,
Mama’s hummin to the radio and a tappin’ her foot,
Daddy’s smilin’ this morning and tickling little brother,
Why is this day different than all the others?
A little giggle sits upon the tip of my tongue
As I watch my Daddy play and have a little fun,
But my giggle isn’t for my Daddy at play,
Mama’s got her nightgown inside out today.
I see my Mama dressin’ nearly every single day
And she is so particular as she turns and she sways.
My Mama’s clothes are beautiful as she flashes to and fro,
When her nightgown’s inside out, why don’t my Mama know?
She must a been sleepy when she got herself undressed
And she must a’ put her nightgown on without lookin’, I guess.
The tag in the back is made to be all tucked in,
And the stichin’ hem should be a layin’ next to skin.
Now Daddy peeks at Mama when he thinks she is not lookin’,
And Mama steals a glance at Daddy, even while she’s cookin’,
I can see the love between them in that very special way,
And Mama’s got her nightgown inside out today.
