Keep your shoulders icy,
And keep your secrets safe.
When life gets somewhat dicey,
When all you love is strafed.
Sorrow isn’t useful,
It burns away the life.
So little of it youthful,
Why waste it all on strife?
Remember those who’ve lost you,
Not the other way around.
Memories stick like glue,
And hatred is abound.
I once was a child,
Who frolicked in the snow.
Now that life is mild,
I have nowhere to go.
Perhaps if I’d been colder;
Perhaps if I’d been strange,
I’d have no world to shoulder,
I wouldn’t have to change.
Now I must provide,
For a bouncing baby boy.
I am like the tides,
Changing with each toy.
Please don’t get me wrong,
I love my son to death.
The days are not so long,
Listening to his breath.
But if I’d stayed away,
I would now have a world,
In which I could stand today,
Away from what he’d hurled.
So keep your shoulders icy!
Keep your secrets safe!
When life gets a little dicey,
Have no-one to strafe.
