Looking into the proverbial trophy case,
I see lots of awards
Won by people
That worked hard (or not)
In an array of creative talents,
I often wonder
Is my turn to shine coming?

Sure, some people are more
Popular than others,
Does it mean that
It's a popularity contest?
Guess it's the way
The world works.
Underdogs everywhere
Deserve credit, and
Don't need their egos
Stroked like some do.

Hard work usually goes
Unnoticed,
Mediocrity and self-righteousness
Gets rewarded in more
Ways in one.

The underdogs' achievements
Will come;
The popular crowd will
Seethe in anger for
Being shown up
By a person
That's unpopular.
