So long and hard his search for her has been,
And anxious has he grown while on her track.
Quite playfully she kept herself unseen
Just leading him from here to there and back.
He knew that she was all his soul had asked
To live with treasured memories in his heart.
But she was like those nymphs of ages past.
She lead him off the path right from the start.
He gathered up his courage and he pled
That she would simply understand his need.
But off she flitted playing with his head
A naiad who would pay him little heed.
He dropped his head upon the forest floor
And closed his eyes to drift into a doze.
His comely form with glee she did adore,
Until he came awake and swiftly rose.
"My life," he cried, in hopes that she'd abide.
The truth within his voice restrained her flight.
He yearned that she would tarry by his side
Through days of joy and into life's dark night.
And so it came to pass his dreams came true,
She let him tame her boisterous liberty.
As both allowed the passion to come through,
Their life became what it was meant to be.
It could not last, for life must always pass
But what they had was worth unhappiness.
The bliss they knew was splendor in the grass,
Such ecstasy ones voice could ill express.
