On and on the words do flow,
A broken heart that will not heal.
It doesn’t matter if she knows,
If it isn’t the way that she feels.
Sometimes it’s best to just move along,
A one-sided love isn’t worth the telling.
It makes no sense to sing the same old song,
When it’s obvious she isn’t buying what you’re selling.
There comes a time when the door needs to close,
Waiting in vain is pathetic and sad.
Nothing will change by endless prose,
And a constant barrage of what you once had.
You offered yourself and showed your best stuff,
It might have been mildly entertaining at first.
But soon it was obvious your stuff wasn’t good enough,
Especially when she knows you at your worst.
Once in awhile you just have to take stock,
And realize that not everyone wants you.
Close the door and turn the lock,
And accept that she will never again come into your view.
It’s best to heed what your heart knows best,
You gave it a shot and fired nothing but blanks.
Good behavior requires that you give it a rest,
Just wave goodbye and whisper “thanks.”
