she was kidnapped from her bedroom on a dark dreary night
by a civilization known as grangers who feared the daylight.
they lived in caves way below the ground
where only darkness ruled - no light to be found.
they had human form from the waist to the feet
but from the waist up it was pure raw meat.
any light would burn them and they would scream in pain
so they would always go back from wence they came.
their eyes were like big marbles popping out of their heads
and their ears long and pointy and a crimson red.
their fingernails like shovels imbedded in meat
and digging thru rock was no big feat.
the humans were known to them as walkers
which they needed to enslave and take them down
to the pitch black caves.
the grangers would come above ground at night
to hunt for food and wood and hammers and nails
to reinforce the caves by the walkers
and to give them the light with which to work.
unknown to the grangers that the female
that they had taken that night was with child
and she refused to allow her spirit to be broken
as they had done with all the other walkers.
so as the men reinforced the cave walls
and the women would cook all the game that they found
she would be singing and laughing and never a frown.
when a walker asked her : who are you?
she smiled and said: my name is stardust and
I came from far away when they kidnapped me
but here my child and I will not stay
there is too much love and beauty to be found
and my spirit will not be kept below this ground.
the other walkers heard her and it rekindled a spark
that they will no longer be kept here in the dark.
now a hope was rising- like a flame in the fire
and it was getting much stronger and growing much higher.
when a voice was heard from the crowd
" build the fire higher so that they can not see
and create a circle of torches so we can walk out and be free."
as they was reaching the top of the cave - "daylight they saw"
and now knew how to stop the grangers " forever more".
they ran around the forest gathering all the dry wood they
could find and made them into giant balls of fire
and rolled them down to the timbered walls below
when they heard the screams of the grangers in fear
as the fireballs grew ever so near.
they gathered around stardust as they looked all around
at all the beauties that they now found.
the light of the heavens so high above , filled their hearts
and souls with tenderness and love.
the warmth of the sun , the clouds in the sky
as they looked up and began to cry.
the sounds of running water and the coolness
at their feet - " my oh my " what a wonderful treat.
all the beauties that they felt this day
as they fell to their knees and began to pray
for all this light that " stardust " helped to give
and to remind us " what it is to live".
