Sunflower seeds and heavy weight champions
Bombs dropping down on hospitals and schools
Land is all that ever really matters
Open a refinery memorialize them with crude
Turns out the rain of armageddon looks like missiles
Greed and power from a ferrel eyed dog
Fight from the streets and rooftops
They need ammo not a ride
Death and destruction a bloodied women cries
Now gas is so high I can’t afford tickets
To see my favorite rock band at the Fox in Detroit
So I go to the diner and scream at the waiter
Finally the power I’ve sought is in sight
Battleship tells them to lay down their weapons
The snake it recoiled and shot these words back
To the warship it responded “go fuck yourself”
Do we even remember what those words meant?
Cities and towns bombed and surrounded
Nineteen year old olympian one of the dead
I took a selfie to put on social media
Somehow it’s important to get likes from my friends
Never thought about donating to a food bank
Some time to the needy and torn
Look at my posts tell me how much they matter
Hurt and betrayed if I'm left all alone
Scream and yell at whatever grieves us
As an invader attacks them they fight till they fall
Call ourselves patriots
We’re no patriots at all
Have we lost sight of our allegiance?
Look to the Ukraine and why they are willing to die
Remember that we must all stand together
If we are to maintain our beautiful prize
