Fly Free

Eyes cast on the distant horizon
Watching the setting of the sun
Bottle of vintage left uncorked
Two glasses left unfilled
I savor the beauty of the day at an end
With a sour taste in the mouth of my mind
I grieve not, the passing of a loved one
Neither do I regret the loss of time wasted
I would rather you know my intent though
I seek not to cage your beautiful mind
No, captivity isn’t for you
Not today, not ever
You are the delicate butterfly
So beautiful, colorful so desirable
But to truly possess that beauty
One must let go, watch it fly away free
You must be the genius Pigeon
Spread your wings, soar and fly away
Fly free my love
See the world sample its goodness
Even as you carry the beat of my heart in yours
But in the labyrinth of your mind remember always
Home is where the heart truly is
As the dusk inherits the gains of day
Return here; bring back the beat of my heart
Return home and make me whole again
