Ten forty-five they cut your cord, late evening in September.
The miracle of childbirth, was a night that I'll remember.
You took a breath before you cried, a sound that gave me pleasure.
I picked you up in swaddling cloth, my precious newborn treasure.
The first time you rolled over, you tried so hard to crawl.
Now your feet have learned to walk, you've overcome it all.
Several little pearl-white teeth, behind your toothy grin.
Every time I see your smile, I see beauty shine within.
You babble to express yourself, you talk to me in scribble.
You twist your fingers in my hair, then kiss me with your dribble.
Now we’ve reached a milestone, a year has quickly flown.
So many new achievements, look how big you’ve grown.
So many cherished memories, I'm blessed with quite a few.
The main thing that I'm grateful for, is a daughter just like you.
I’ll shower you in kisses, I'll smother you with love.
A very happy birthday, to my angel from above.
