Once there was a raven who forgot how to fly
Her misery hung on her like a dark cloud in the sky
Her wings weren't broken but she had lost her heart
In a storm she got lost
The wind pushed her
The rain drenched her
The thunder teased her
The lighting frightened her
She began to fall
She knew her flight would end in a tailspin of destruction
So she closed her eyes and just let go
Now the old eagle had been flying low
His eyes on this poor lost soul
He swooped under her and lifted her high
When she awoke she was in a place of safety and warmth
Not face down in a mound of dirt
The old eagle dried her tears lifted her on his back once again
He began to teach her to fly above the storms
No matter what storm that raged that old eagle would touch her wing
Lifting her higher till she begin to see the beauty in her own wings
They flew together for many moons that old eagle and his raven
They soared
They dipped their wings in unison, their shadows blotting out the sun
They sang till the heavens rang, till the split in her heart was mended
He woke one morning to hear her sing her greeting to the sun
Such joy he heard in her song
He knew their journey together was done
He watched her take flight, her shadow reflecting in the early morning sun
He saw her soar
He knew in his heart that never again would she fear the storms.
Her misery hung on her like a dark cloud in the sky
