Darkness, what a creepy mystery. It comes and goes so easily.
Spun from lack,
it does come back,
'less light remains,
it's one true bane.
For eradication is swift,
and a flicker or a blink,
can make it leave,
go, disappear, flee.
But long ago, 'fore you and I,
when there neither was a cry nor a sigh,
darkness reigned at night,
even with the moon way up high.
Fire was naught, no light trickled,
every nook and cranny hid a secret.
All beast slept, in terror and fear,
unknown to them if something was near.
Sight, a little more than a trivial thing,
as they listened keenly and intently.
Yet even as men built a bulb,
the dark, they fear even right now,
The blanket that hides the terrors
it lurks now and 'ever.
But even we know naught
as it creeps in our thoughts,
the mystery intriguing,
will always be haunting.
