Not too long ago, I met a man;
With a kind heart and a gentle smile.
Never thought I possibly can,
Fall for a man, I’ve just known for awhile.
Well, he was utterly good-looking,
And smells oh so heavenly too.
He leaves every woman dreaming,
And wishing for a love so true.
He was really an awesome cook,
A wonderful singer and impressive dancer.
He’s a prince straight from a book,
An answer to any damsel’s fervent prayer.
He was ever too generous,
Giving gifts and listening well.
Yet he was also oblivious,
To the sighs of those who fell.
Once, he invited me to dinner so shyly,
As if I was giving him a favor.
My heart soared and cheered endlessly,
It was nothing like I’ve ever felt before.
It was a night of fun and laughter.
Just like that we clicked, so to speak.
He said I was like no other,
Darn, I felt my knees grow weak.
Yet still he continued to say,
“Had I been a man, I’d choose you.”
And God, what a shock for the day,
For I never had a single clue.
I felt a tear run down my cheek,
I had to cry, I couldn’t help it.
He went from surprise to frantic,
Romance now turning to comic skit.
Looking at him so stunned and flustered,
Tumbling glasses in his haste,
The absurdity of it all registered,
Mirth came rolling, not a second to waste.
“I fancied myself in love with you,”
I told him accusingly.
“Well I thought you already knew.”
He replied defensively.
“And why invite me for dinner?”
I can’t help but clarify.
“I was gonna ask about your brother.”
Came his honest reply.
I imagined Cupid himself laughing,
For the mischief he perfectly pulled.
Watch out then innocent earthling,
For your heart may soon be fooled.
