As I sit here thinking
I hear the rain fall down
So gently on the rooftop
There’s music in that sound
I think of all the people
That I’ve known throughout the years
I hear their voices calling
As I try to hold back tears
I think of little Jessie
With her brightly coloured bike
And the struggle that her parents had
To teach the little mite
They had no chance to teach her
Through the private schools those days
Because of Jeffry’s accident
That took away his pays
She’s now a great professor
Talking climate to us all
Trying to make us listen
Based on facts, she makes this call
If we don’t stop this nonsense
If we don’t heed her call
There will be no future for us
the species, most will fall
And then there’s Ben Tremacki
Who walked around the reef
Saying how much damage
It’s all beyond belief
He says "that as the energy
Gets sucked into the sea
Instead of leaving atmosphere
It energies me"
"I need to know the answer
Can the reef survive?
Will we see another day?
When this environment will revive"
And as I sit here thinking
I wonder why we teach
Our young ones to learn knowledge
If its ignorance we preach
Opinions matter not one bit
If facts show this crap
Will all come crashing down
If we don’t decide and act
So I write these thoughts of mine
But not to put away
But to show the general public
Just to vote to save the day.
