The time will come for me to draw my final breath,
A day which yet my faint hearted soul would deny,
The day when I will have to take my last goodbye,
To face alone the dreaded moment of my death,
But in the midst of doubt a flame of hope burns bright,
That beyond the horizon of this mortal sphere,
A better life awaits when we cross that frontier,
And pass through death into a place of wondrous light.
And so a sudden glimpse of joy lights up my mind,
Like summer sunshine breaking through the mists of time,
With promise of a future even more sublime.
Though I may fear that call which may not be declined,
I hope that on the day I lose these mortal chains
And leave behind the ties of kin that bind me here,
The cloak of darkness that masks my vision will clear
And I will see beyond the veil that still constrains
My soul within this material creation,
And I will be released to soar beyond the sky,
Where in the glorious light of eternity,
I will be one with love’s benign incarnation.
