"Beauty is pain"
Or at least that's what we were taught to believe.
So we get up and work on the painting that is our faces.
We don't sleep enough, but that's okay. That's what's concealer is for.
We don't have that perfect jaw line but it's okay, we can just contour.
Our cheeks aren't pink enough, so we pack on some blush.
Our lips aren't full enough, so we overdraw.
We don't like our eye brows, so we shave them off and put on a new shape.
We don't like our natural skin, so we cover it up with foundation.
We don't like our eyes, so we make them pop with color.
People tell us "you're so pretty, you don't need the makeup."
But maybe you do it for yourself.
Maybe makeup is a way to express yourself.
Maybe you just take pride in waking up early and enhancing your features.
Maybe it's not for anyone else's approval, but your own.
Either way, beauty is only up to standard with whatever you see.
No matter the amount of makeup or the lack of makeup, you are beautiful.
We are beautiful.
Beauty is pain, right?
No, beauty is YOU!
