And hatred then consumed my soul
after your vile unfaithful act.
Revenge became my only goal
and thus came my satanic pact.

All that mattered was to see
you were destroyed in every way.
Crying there in agony
until your hair was sparse and gray.

And so each day a little trick!
When I served you your meal in bed
I put in some arsenic
but not enough to make you dead.

Just enough to make you ill
to make your organs slowly fail.
A little hateful poison pill
that would keep me away from jail.

As the months went slowly by
I smiled each morn as you grew weak.
I watched you waste away and cry
and reveled in each morning’s peek.

And then the day came when you passed.
Your body now devoid of soul.
“Bon voyage,” I softly sassed
as I achieved the final goal.

I watched your remains be interred.
I saw your coffin slowly sink.
My happiness now not deferred
I went home and enjoyed a drink!

I re-envisoned all your pain
and how you slowly met your death.
I wished that you were back again
so I could relive your last breath.

But afterwards days slowly passed
as I lived in what was our home.
“Was death too quick?” I sometimes asked
for I grew bored being all alone.

And then one day a younger lass
smiled when I was in the park.
She seemed to be of proper class
and I felt a romantic spark.

She did not wear a wedding band.
We sat down on a bench to talk.
Later we strolled hand and hand
as we enjoyed a lovely walk.

Soon we chatted every day
and love sprang from our friendship’s well.
I hoped my deceased putrid spouse
might see us from somewhere in hell.

Three months later we were wed
and now I have a youthful wife.
Her body warms a once cold bed
and gives new meaning to my life.

She arises with the sun.
I sleep later in the day.
Every morning just for fun
she brings me a breakfast tray.

I am joyful since we wed.
Thank heavens I was not too cautious!
This morning, though, I’ll just eat bread.
Lately I’ve been feeling nauseous.
