I love salt, water, taffy, and tears
but only if they are happy
Now I need someone to calm my fears
Distract and let's escape for the day
Television off, radio turned down
Tomorrow a visit to our boat
I'll accept only smiles; no one can frown
If you wish to board my happy vessel
We'll venture out with coolers, icy cold
Full of good food, beer, and treats
The wind in our ears, let the good take hold
Swimming, fishing, laughing and fun
Forget for awhile what the world's become
Sun baking down, freckles for a few
A tan or burn, depending on which one
Pale, dark, we are all a mix, no two alike
We're family just the same; love is the glue
A day to ourselves, recharging the spirit
Giving our souls the chance to renew
Their faith in all things human and true
Hopefully to return and see a calmer life
I'll enjoy it all, but be sad to return
You can't make years of madness and strife
Vanish or disappear under the rug in a day
Just let me have this one time away
Loving, laughing with family and friends
Is it too much to ask, for a no crisis day
Answers, I don't have. I don't know how it ends
Hugs, kisses, and kindness are the call of the day
Waving at others, who share our escape to the Bay
