I know what it means to stand alone,
to be of the faceless and unknown,
one of the unwanted and unloved,
the condemned and shunned
To stand on the precipice of your own demise,
with nothing to hold but your own hopeful lies,
a disease or your ruin or your own mental maul,
whatever it is that promises your fall
In a world that can be cold and cruel,
you lie between the hammer and anvil,
at the mercy of the oncoming blow,
a slave to fate's unwavering flow
You stare into the abyss of bleakness,
standing alone before the darkness,
without so much as a caring touch,
you become your only crutch
And that is your moment to choose,
let it all go for you have nothing to lose,
lay your burden down and be done,
embrace your fall to oblivion
Or to breathe deep and carry on,
to put your faith in the coming dawn,
that your burden will someday end,
and you will find a way to somehow mend
