Leaning against a rock 

overlooking the ocean 

Hearing the waves crashing on the rocks below

the occasional breeze 

blows a salty mist over me 

tasting it upon my lips. 

As I quietly watch, listen and think 

About all that is happening around me. 

The children playing 

Couples walking along holding hands 

Whilst talking and laughing. 

Then I start thinking about the television news

Wondering what causes people 

To be so intent on hurting one another.

What is gained, if anything? 

What about when people cheat 

If they are not happy,

why not just leave start over.

Life is a journey 

Full of chapters 

Nothing is set in stone 

Except that one day it will end 

So why live a life full of sorrow and pain 

When it could be filled with love and laughter...
