If I Die Before I Wake
we as children of christian faith all know this passage
knees bent at your bed before sleep
as I sit with my morning tea in my graying years
my thoughts drift as the winters snow to places long forgotten
asking myself between sips was I a good man a loving man
if my angel came to me today was I ready
was I really ready
************************************************
days later driving yet again to work my thoughts came flooding back
if I die before I wake
who would care for my beagle Parker and cat Bailey
would my neighbor or close friend find me in bed
was my house clean and picked up
how would my last family members hear of my passing
then my heart skipped a beat then another
my soul mate so far away in that exotic land
home of the grand Hogenakkai Falls
would our pledge our bonded oath hold true
***************************************************
as I go to sleep this night I close my eyes and ask for my angel
please do not take me my first love for I have more to do
more to complete yes I have more to live for
blessing my angel she smiles on this poor soul her lost soul
as she ascend to heaven calling to me
love her hold her respect her for I shall watch over you both
your soul mate I shall keep her safe for I am her angel too
sleep rest for you have more to do
your journey is not complete
*********************************************************
waking with a smile and a warm feeling in my heart and soul
morning tea and off to work yet another day again
knowing all is well but I have work to do
bless my angel
bless my new found love
bless my soul mate
and bless myself
