She clawed at the ice but it was no good, she couldn't get a grip. Her fingers hurt with cold, the flesh already turning white at the tips.
Suddenly, a piece broke away, and she fell backward!
Taking a deep breath, she got to her knees and once again began pulling at the solid, unmoving ice.
It was no good, she couldn't do it, but she couldn't give up, not now.
She looked around, searching for something to help her get a grip but there was nothing.
She would just have to wait and hope that the food didn't defrost in the meantime.
