Roses, after weeks of blooming brilliance in the sunshine, have sadly been struck by recent heavy rain. Red, pink and yellow heads are down or torn apart. Looking all forlorn and wasted (a bit like me). I don't mind a little rain, but when it strikes nature's beauty it stops being a friend. In contrast, the thirty year old standard rose out front (in this particular year it's name is most apt, 'Simply the Best') has only just begun to open its blooms. In defiance of any rain they will last until Christmas, sometimes beyond. A wonderful source of thankfulness.
Coffee and a couple of cookies, please (forget about the waistline!)
