The dot denotes the post you linked to, so for example https://www.storiesspace.com/forum/site-announcements-and-members-feedback/dot-on-latest-post?page=1&post=210674 would link to Mendalla's post.
Dot on latest post?
Just noticed that on the latest post in threads, the poster's avatar has a "dot" in the top left. Like the snip of James' avatar below. Is that new? Does it mean anything beyond it being the latest post in the thread? EDIT: I did not intend that picture to be that big. Not sure it blew up like that.

You can see them all on the competitions page linked from the main competition page (linked from the home page), or at the top of each story that is an entry.
Should we be leaving the banner on the home page until the announcement date rather than the closing date?
