One of my all-time top three favourite songs. This is a cover by Rumours of Fleetwood Mac but how well they do it!

My husband took me to see them some years ago now. It was in a place called Dartford, South of London. They were brilliant. One of the best cover bands ever. A really good night. They went through the Peter Green era all the way up to Tango in the night, Tusk and of course, Rumours

Still feeling like death warmed up a minor procedure the week before last. Everything's healing nicely, I just have no energy. Some of Sara's salted caramel cookies might help!

My dear Henrietta, I'm sending you a virtual hug. Sit down, put your feet up and I'll fetch you some tea and cookies.

Yeesh, you're quick. I only just got an idea on the way home from work and probably won't start until the weekend.

It was quick, and not very good. I wrote it on the fly, making it up as I went along. I just wanted to show my support for the comp. I'm not expecting it to do very well. I'll look forward to reading the real stories. Regards Verity

I've had a few. I raised a ticket and was contacted by Sarah. I sent a couple of screen dumps to her. It happened again today so it seems it has yet to be sorted. I was wondering if it was cookie related as I visit both sites.

I've got mine in already. Just to make the numbers up, I wrote it in an hour. Not sure if it will pass muster or not. Horror isn't really my thing.

I just have a quick question if I may. On the old site we had a button that downloaded our stories into one of those zippy things. I can't see it on here. Am I looking in the wrong place or has it gone for good? Thank you. Regards, Verity

My dearest Henrietta, you really are a delight. your wonderful comments always inspire me to continue writing. 2,000 words, in a single day. That would be about five or six stories for me. You really do have a massive talent. 🌼🌼🌼

Dear Verbal, I’m with Ping on this one. Forget what the book club says about your writing. It’s your writing, your baby. Keep it as you want it. As soon as you start writing to please other people you lose your creative ideas. I think it’s better to just get them out there. Look at me, I’ve never written before, but since January I’ve managed to publish over 80 stories. I know that my dyslexia and lack of a formal education shows in my writing, but I don’t care. There is nothing I can do about that. I just do the best I can. It may not be good enough to win any prizes but some people like them, especially in the other place. Its the ideas that count, and you have plenty. Did you know, the biggest cost in furniture manufacture is the labour and transportation. Big cupboards need big boxes and big lorries to move them around. Can you imaging the boardroom reaction when someone said, “I have an idea, how about we just send the customer the bits, and they assemble it themselves.” I bet that got a few laughs. Now look at IKEA. Keep going verbal. Regards, Verity.

Root canal ... I dream of root canal. 😕 Not really, just that lets just say I needed a blood transfusion after an emergency C-section Tuesday night. All is good now; baby got stuck and is well despite that, mother is improving 👌

I am having trouble publishing a poem about late babies (or more accurately one late young man in particular) which I wrote Saturday. Cant work out if it is a bug or that I am stupid... Okay, don't answer that.

But for all the mums out there I do have a question: How come second children are born?

Congratulations Annie. I's so pleased that all went well in the end. I read your poem, it was fabulous. I'm sending you a virtual hug. The reason mum's have second babies is simple. Nature plays a cruel trick. It makes you forget how bad it was first time around. Instead, it somehow convinces you it's a good idea to keep going. Regards, Verity

I love a bit of comedy but I don't think I could do a funny horror 👀

I was chatting with a scientist once who had a theory that every black hole was in the same place. As mad as it sounds, it kind of made sense when he explained it. He reckons that the universe is doughnut shaped. We still have so much to learn.
The host of PBS Spacetime,  a science YouTube channel I watch, once explained that some think there is only one electron in the universe that just keeps bouncing around through space and time. Apparently the math does hold up under some interpretations of quantum theory, but he was not a supporter (he is an Aussie astrophysicist who teaches at a college in the US).

Short version: theoretical physics and astrophysics go down some really weird rabbit holes.

I agree, I've been watching a lot of stuff about quantum physics. It's fascinating. I love the theory on quantum superposition and entanglement. I even wrote a story about it on the other site. The very thought of something being in two places at the same time, coupled with its ability to travel faster than light is mind blowing. The quantum world is a very strange place indeed.

Black Holes : The Edge of All We Know. (Netflix)

It's a documentary about two rather different groups of scientists working on problems related to black holes. One is the Event Horizon Telescope, the globe-spanning group that got us the first actual picture of a black hole's event horizon a couple years ago. The other is the smaller group (basically a bunch of friends) that worked with the late Stephen Hawking on his final paper on the "black hole information paradox", a problem in astrophysics that Hawking himself first identified in the seventies. Hawking's death is dealt with partway through the movie. A couple other black hole related projects come up, including the LIGO project's first observation of gravity waves from colliding black holes, but those two teams are the focus. It's more about the process of science and how scientists work together than about black holes themselves. Still fascinating, though.

This is an old one, but I love it:

If a man says something in a forest and there's no woman there to hear him, is he still wrong?

I haven't heard this. made me spit coffee!

It reminded me of a kitchen plaque I saw recently. My other-half wouldn't let me buy it;

"I would agree with you.
But then we'd both be wrong!"

The way I see it, men have two choices. They can either be right, or be happy. My advice to men is simple, happy wife, happy life.

They let me join. What more can I say? Stories Space allows me to publish my ramblings. 😊

Sonnet 18 (William Shakespeare)

You have the look of a summer rose

When you adopt that sultry pose

So try and believe

That as long as you breathe

You can make sure it never goes

I have a general question. I tried to post a story in “Humor” but it wouldn’t let me. It said my story would have to be at least 3’000 words. I’ve had a look and can’t find many stories in humor that long. Is it something I’m doing wrong or is it a new rule? And secondly. As the new site doesn’t show my old story artwork properly. Could admin please remove all my old story pictures. At the moment they just look stupid. Regards, Verity

I love the lovely people on Stories Space. It’s the comments and encouragement that keep me writing. I was sent her from "the other place" and I’m glad I was. It’s so friendly here. It’s full of genuine people.

My dear Violet, I am really sorry if my flippant remark caused any offence. I’m not very good at “reading the room.” In fact, I’m a bit thick on these matters. I even had to look up cis on Google.

I should really read the whole thread before making silly remarks. Please accept my apology. I never mean to cause harm or offence to anyone. I shall be more careful in the future. Regards, Verity

Aw, Verity. I never took offence to what you wrote. I thought it was rather a brilliant way to define yourself as you are a brilliant and wonderful person. (hugs)
Thank you Violet. You truly are a wonderful person. I'm always getting into trouble for the things I say. It's almost as if I don't have any filters. I'm even worse when I'm squiffy. I have to say away from my keyboard when I am. Regards, Verity

I identify as an old, but beautiful, lady shopping for a half a pound of broken biscuits in Woolworths. Good luck with that.

Sorry, I thought my friends list was ok, but it is showing a negative one from my more recent friend request that I accepted on my desktop too. I have a screenshot, but I don't want to clog the forum with a massive picture again as they don't size down at the moment.

I put my phone on this morning to see 150 notifications. I thought for a minute that I'd become famous. No such luck.

Good morning. At the risk of appearing lazy, I do miss the notifications of new comments on my stories. I always love to read comments and of course, reply.

At the moment I have to check every one of my stories to see if a comment has been made. I'm constantly checking because I would hate to think that someone was kind enough to make a comment and for them to think I couldn't be bothered to reply. I hope that makes sense. Thank you

Hmm, I think that has the making of an excellent play. If only I could find an author with such a devious mind. 😉

All I want to know is, will I ever get my comments back. They really do mean so much to me. Thank you

They should all be back now. Even the replies to comments on stories are back since they re-imported the comments last night. And the comments on my profile are there now (you have scroll down a bit to get to comments in the profile, esp. on a mobile device).
No, I had six comments but now I only have two. It's not just me, if you look at Tams story The Mimic, all the comments are gone and I made a comment on your story Saturday Afternoons at the Opera, that has also gone. You had four comments but now you only have one.
They did warn us before they re-imported the comments from the old site that comments made since the original conversion would be overwritten. I know that would apply to the comments on mine since that was posted after the upgrade. Would that apply to the ones on your story and Tams? Given that it fixed the profile comments and brought in the replies to story comments that were missing, I think I am okay with the small sacrifice.
Thank you. My play The Scarlet Lady had some lovely comments. It was posted on the new 2.0 so I guess they are now lost forever. I hope you managed to read my comment on your story before it was deleted.

My latest story The Scarlet Lady has had the comments removed. I'm not worried about scores as they don't count in compititions etc, but I love the comments.

Hi all,

We've identified that there's an issue uploading photos including story covers and therefore it's that part of the story submit process which is failing.  We're just working on resolving that as soon as possible.  You should find submitting stories without a cover works.

Apologies that I've not got the time right now to reply back to any other questions or comments but I hope to be back soon once things settle down on this side.

Thank you. I've just managed to get it on by leaving the cover art out.

I'm unable to publish a story - like you, I just get the wheel of death. Is there a FAQ? How do I upload images? I can't send messages (wheel of death again). Where are all my replies to comments? They seem to have disappeared. And is there a way of having a story loaded for edit? When I copied and pasted my story into the 'publish story' page, it took out all the line breaks - not too bad for a micro, but not helpful for longer stories.

I think the edit bit has gone. I miss it too. Being a bit thick, it was nice for me to see how it looked before submitting it. Now it just goes straight to submit. I think I'll leave it until it all settles down. I believe this is the model for the red site so I'm sure it will all turn out right in the end.
