oligopolistic (cool word)
Paradox:

A paradox is a statement that apparently contradicts itself and yet might be true (or wrong at the same time). Some logical paradoxes are known to be invalid arguments but are still valuable in promoting critical thinking.

Word of the day because I'm a fan of paradoxes. I think they're cool, but really quite difficult to write because, logically, they make absolutely no sense, whilst still making perfect sense.

Simple, really: Just state your word of the day. Pick a word, any word, obscure or not. Modern or archaic. Just remember to explain why it's the word of the day, and what it means.

My word is immolation. The reason for this is because it is a word that makes me laugh, though killing something with fire ain't funny, the word itself is.

Come on, please.

It isn't difficult.

In fact - gasp!

It's reasonable - your word, dearie.

Give a reason for whatever you post, as well as the definition.

Thanks SO much

Doppelgänger - An eerie double or counterpart to a real person. That is NOT a twin.

I've always thought this word was interesting as to how it came to be part of the English language. As it turns out it has a Germanic roots. Doppel meaning double and ganger meaning walker or goer. In some ways you have to admire the Germans for their efficiency in making up new word. They just stick two or more words together to come up with a new one.

For any that are interested in Doppelgänger Week, check this link.

I've actually seen my Doppelgänger, and it's a very strange, surreal experience.

So, going by that, I'll say 'surreal', for my word of the day:

Adjective
1. Of, relating to, or characteristic of surrealism, an artistic and literary style; surrealistic.
2. Having the disorienting, hallucinatory quality of a dream; unreal; fantastic.

I do enjoy a little surreality on occasion.

Childish~~~ Because people acting like a child..
Stupid - lacking intelligence or common sense. A rather cruel word, but one that I use a lot, hence it is the WoTD. There are a lot of stupid people out there, you see. Some are right here in our midst!

Block~~ dont have to put up with stupid people.
Today's WoTD for me is anent.

It's an old, probably archaic or literary word:

[quote=dictionary.comeposition
1.
in regard to; about; concerning.
2.
British. beside; in line with.

I came across it when reading Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson, and looked it up.

I like the sound of it, and the meaning of it. I also like its obscurity but its clarity of meaning.
Copacetic

Translation - fine; completely satisfactory

I read about this today.Basically it's a fun way to say, "It's all good."

Copasetic, also spelled copacetic, copesetic or - less commonly - kopasetic,
Memory (had an assessment at the memory clinic today - they said my brain was fine, but the rest of me was beggared!)
Ah, feeling charitable are you Rumps? Tee hee
Being : pure possibility
